Women’s Jewellery : Traqus rings, Ear Streachers and Toe Rings

It has been found not only in today’s world, but in ancient times as well, that women have always been fond of jewelry; whether it is of gold, silver, copper or any other metal. Women can have a fabulous collection of jewelry ranging from earrings, tragus rings, ear streachers, nose rings, necklaces and toe rings.

In order to have an upper edge over their competitors, jewelry manufacturers are bringing in new concepts and ideas. Since ear is a prominent part of our body, it can be modified in different ways to make it more visible. That’s why there is lot of scope for innovation in ear jewelry; you may find studs, rings, bars and spiral bars for almost every part of the ear, i.e. Auricle, Conch, Daith, Helix, Lobe, Orbit, Pinna, Rook, Scaffold Snug and Tragus. So, no space has been left un-invaded of this small part of our body. Today, men and women, both are wearing tragus rings, closure rings, lobe rings and studs.

Ear Streachers are also used to modify ears; they are very much in fashion. Previously it was traditionally utilized by different tribes like Dayaks in Borneo. Ear Streachers gradually increase the size of the hole in the pierced ears. You can use large, heavy or weighted jewellery or objects to stretch the size. A lot of precautions must be taken as it may cause thinning of ear tissue that may disfigure your ear and may require re-constructive surgery.

Body Jewelry and me

I am not one of those people who will go around in the market looking for bodyjewelry. I am also not one of those people who would stop by every street shop selling it. I just have one piercing done in my entire body and that is my ears. Then if you are wondering how I am associated with body jewelry, then I supply it, in fact I even own a small shop of my own where people come to get their bodies pierced.

I know it is startling for many that I don’t have a tongue ring or a nose ring or even a belly ring myself even though I have the best of options to choose from. I know I am aware of the latest trends and fashion and I know the best prices and I get the best quality. Still, somehow I have never been able to bring myself to the point where I can actually say that I can get my belly or my nose or my tongue pierced.

I have been in this business for over two years now and now may be I have finally gathered some courage that I want to finally make an attempt at belly piercing. Here is what changed my mind. It was only yesterday that three girls walked into my small store and they were so sure that they will walk out only when they have their flat bellies pierced. The confidence that the pain (however more or less it is) is worth it gave me confidence as well.

Once I saw the belly rings sticking to their navels, I knew that people would definitely turn their heads in their direction. I knew I had added prettiness to their beauty. I knew they had an extra charm which I didn’t. Body jewelry is not just about fashion or style any more. Now I know it’s much more than that.

Tragus rings and ear streachers; do’s and don’ts

If tragus piercing has always been a passion for you, then the best option for you would be internally threaded tragus rings.  Tragus rings do not feature among the most popular type of body jewelry, albeit it is still one of the most preferred ear-jewelry, for both sexes. There are some benefits of wearing internally threaded tragus rings.

1.    It causes fewer chances of infection
2.    It causes less swelling
3.    Internally threaded tragus rings have less friction
4.    It is more convenient and more comfortable
5.    It heals quickly and is less painful
6.    It is stronger and safer to wear
7.    It is secured in place by beads and a threaded bar
8.    Once tragus piercing is healed you can try a variety of tragus rings

Body jewelry like ear streachers are commonly used to expand a particular area of skin, and in this case it would be earlobes.  Ear streachers are available in a vast assortment of various shapes, sizes and styles.  It ensures the piercing area to be held within its existing position and simultaneously allows opening and displaying extra space inside of the ring.  Ear streachers are available in various dimensions ranging from 2.5 mm up to 50 mm with a difference of 2 mm each between the sizes.  The most prevalent materials being used for ear streachers are surgical steel, plastic, silicone, coconut and horns etc.

Toe rings are a typical Indian jewelry, being worn and adored in India since ancient times.  In the United States and the west it is a relatively new concept which actually migrated in the 1960s.  It is still considered to be a summer time jewelry in most of the western countries, as in the Europe and North American continent, summer time is not as long as it is in India.  Toe rings are not convenient to be worn under the closed-toed shoes etc. as it can injure your feet by squishing it against the metal. Toe rings are worn by married ladies in India as a sign of their marital status.  It looks the best in slippers and sandals.
